This week is known as National Garden Week! For those of you that don't have a green thumb, here's a way to "spice" up your kitchen or window sill. Don't be afraid to fake it until you make it, just be sure keep some fresh herbs in the fridge and no one will be the wiser!
All you need for this crafty, mini herb garden is the following:
- Planter Box
- Dirt
- Artificial Herbs
Start with the planter box. Measure to see which size of plant pots you will need.
After you've made sure the pots fit, you can gather your herbs and dirt. These can either be real or artificial - we won't tell anyone! You can arrange the herbs in a variety of ways: Color blocking, height order, or savory vs. sweet!
You can add as few or as many plants as you would like! Few herbs and it looks like you're testing the waters with gardening. More herbs and it looks like you're on your way to becoming a master gardener!
Or you can create a realistic vignette for your window sill or garden. For an extra bit of realism, you can add plant labels.
Also, try mix and matching the herbs to coordinate with what is in season.
Summer: Oregano and Lavender
Fall: Lemongrass Parsley
Spring: Basil, Mint, and Cilantro
Year-round: Rosemary and Bay Leaf
Hope you have a great National Gardening Week. Be sure to share your National Gardening Week projects with us!
